F1 challenge 99 02 update

Adorning the cover of F1 Challenge is none other than Colombian 'bad boy' racer Juan Pablo Montoya, no doubt decided upon before the recent revoking of his driving licence for speeding.

And funnily enough, just as Montoya's licence has expired, so too has EA's licence to make money simulating the world of Formula One , with F1 Challenge representing the last time digital drivers will hear the annoying "E! It's in the game! EA's decision to quit the F1 sim business has left it with one final throw of the dice and rather than make a concerted attempt to go out on a massive high, it has instead opted to bung together a sort of compilation of the previous year's efforts and shove it out of the door post haste so as to get on with other projects.

What's particularly galling is that the effort was actually made over in console land, with F1 Career Challenge the non-PC incarnation of this last outing letting you earn your stripes as a rookie driver, progress through the ranks, sign deals with teams and even design your own helmet colours.

Here in PC world no relation , all we get is the same game as seen in the previous four yearly updates with nothing more than seasonal team and track data better engine sounds and updated graphics to appease us. No career mode, no seasonal progression options, nothing. Prev 1 … Go to page. Go to page. First Prev 6 of 12 Go to page. The active LCD rectangle is off the the left of the actual screen space, and when I cycle through the LCD Modes it just keeps stacking itself upon the previous one, making it very difficult to see.

Does anyone have a clue of what might be causing this bug or where in the files I should have a look at? I've tried reinstalling it and everything. Click to expand Haky13hun said:. I have the same problem as lodiped , could you drop me a link to your version of the game please?

I can't fix the LCD in mine. Last edited: Nov 5, Hello together, I played F1 Challenge ''02 in the past for many many hours. Now I would like to play it on my new PC with Windows 10, but it does not work. After I start the game in the comatiblity mode and with admin rights it happens nothing. Have anybody an idea how I can start the game? Would be very great! Regards ps-racer. Durge Driven Premium. Try opening config. Cristian Luis. When I come here to see if there was any comment about the mods that were released, I found that the topics have been moved to an F1 Challenge ''02 thread.

Could I know where it is? I cannot find them in "Other Racing Games" subforum. When I try to access it from the notification, it tells me that I have not got permission. I have also read that the link I posted for the download sends you to Facebook, which is not true. It sends you to a Mega link because I remember that I wrote credits and photos. On this website I could not find a specific section for F1 Challenge.

I'm using win10, but ran the game installer with win XP compatibility, and I start the game as administrator with win XP too. I sort of stumbled on this game and mod when looking for s F1 cars on a video game.

Any help would be much appreciated, I often overlook the simplest things that more computer literate people and just take for granted. Thanks, Jims. Something just clicked as I reread the sort of vague instructions I have. So I've now disabled the auto shift, and my paddle shifters work fine. Users can create their own racer -- customizing items like helmets -- or choose from established Formula One stars.

Redesigned F1 gameplay includes improved AI, realistic accidents, and option screens available during a race for car adjustments. Players will receive real-time feedback from their chief mechanic and team boss during a race. F1 Challenge ''02 crams a lot of sim nirvana into a sleek package. As its name implies, it flaunts four seasons of Formula One racing, including the drivers, cars, and tracks from to Therein lies the first caveat: You can emulate dozens of drivers and race tons of tracks, and you can play through an entire season for points, but the game lacks an ongoing "career" mode -- don't get it confused with EA's upcoming F1 Career Challenge for PlayStation 2.

It's not a big loss, though, because there's still plenty to do. Although it's a driving game, F1 Challenge ''02 is closer to Microsoft Flight Simulator than it is to arcade driving ditties like Midtown Madness. It offers a staggering amount of adjustable options to help noobs and satisfy grognards -- everything from breaking aid in the turns, a fully automatic transmission, and clutch assistance to a plain-old insane amount of vehicle adjustments.

The only way to ultimately master this game is to practice. In fact, several practice runs are built-in before each race; you can skip them if you wish, but it's foolhardy to attempt a race without intimately knowing the track. Realistically, the pavement on most of the tracks is streaked dark along the optimal line, giving you a clue of where your vehicle should be at any given point.

Little touches like that round out an outstanding graphics engine.
