I was worried about Games Workshop in when the economy collapsed like a house of cards. Leisure companies everywhere began to struggle. I feared people would spend more time paying bills and making ends meet, than playing with toy soldiers.
I purposefully tried to support the Meadowhall store specifically. They never can. Some stores are reducing their opening hours. Some stores are closing. But what do I know? Somewhere to go when your other half is queuing outside Hollisters. Somewhere to talk, gather, spend money on silly things that only mean anything to a select few. I was there for about 2 hours and totally loved it! This week I'm going to practise against some of my Dads Empire army, hopefully try out some magic and get a few more Skinks painted.
Friday, 31 August Hello fellow wargamers, my name is Alex, I'm a 9 year old Warhammer beginner. I've painted a couple of my dads miniatures before, now I'm starting my first army. But if you take your child into the store it does take a while to get them back out! For your first child it is great! They have a babes R us section too; baby bibs, clothing, bottles and toys etc. The Retail park has plenty of car parking spaces, plus you have aldi, onatural, pc world and other stores nearby.
A great store, nice layout and very nice staff. There is precious few places that have the selection you will find in Toys R Us.
Because it is in a retail park expect plenty of parking and several resturants near by. The store sells toys of course, but also playground equipment, bikes, video games and other childhood stuff. Expect an impressive amount of Dr. Who toys and items as well. Although there is so much stuff that if you take the kids with you, they tend to get overawed at the amount of toys there. Queues always seem to be very long and slow but the staff are helpful if you have questions.
